If you are the active type, you can choose between two ski areas with slopes for any level, from beginners to advanced, while cross-country tracks, sled runs and ice rinks round off the facilities. Explore

  • the Zugspitze and the Garmisch-Classic ski areas
  • the Hausberg, which forms part of Garmisch-Classic and is ideally suited if you want to give ski touring a try
  • the well-groomed cross-country tracks – from easy-going at the bottom of the valley to demanding at Kaltenbrunn, where snow is guaranteed
  • various indoor ice rinks, the outdoor ice rink at Mohrenplatz in the centre of Garmisch, or, conditions permitting, on a frozen lake, most notably the Pflegersee

The lower terminus for the Hausberg area is only a few minutes from Bader Suites, and the stop for the ski bus is close by. In addition, ski school, ski rental as well as tourist information and ice rank can be easily reached by foot.

In case you prefer to take it slow and easy, you can make use of an extensive network of winter hiking trails – ideal if you wish to explore the area surrounding the Zugspitze with its charm and idyllic flair.

  • Around the Wank: This hike will reward you with stunning panoramic views. The Wankhaus is open in winter and makes for a perfect pit stop.
  • Deer feedings at the Kramerplateau: Attend a deer feeding with your family. The trail to the feeding site is suited for prams.
  • Snowshoe hikes around Garmisch: Experience pristine nature and fresh powder snow below your feet. Conditions permitting, guided snowshoe hikes are offered from early January to late March.
  • Skidding through the snow: Sled downhill or get aboard a horse-drawn sleigh. Sled rental and sleigh rides can be organised at the tourist information.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Zugspitz Region are renowned for their versatility and charming flair. Here, dreams come true and everything is possible, irrespective of whether you are after an active vacation, indulgence or relaxation.
